Hilton Nagasaki's Sustainability Initiatives
At Hilton Nagasaki, we are committed to sustainability by reducing food waste, lowering carbon dioxide emissions, and contributing to the local community. We will continue to actively promote initiatives that consider the environment, society, and people in various activities and areas.
Reducing Food Waste
◉In the Executive Lounge, restaurants, and banquet halls, we have created posters asking customers to help reduce food loss and leftovers.
◉During banquets, we are implementing the "3010 Movement," which encourages guests to enjoy their meals at their seats for 30 minutes after the toast and 10 minutes before the end of the event.
◉At buffets, we constantly monitor the status of the food and adjust the quantity of replacements accordingly.
◉Vegetable scraps from food preparation are not discarded but used in soups and broths. The kelp and bonito flakes used for broth are processed into preserved food as Tsukudani
Reducing Plastic Waste and Carbon Dioxide Emissions
◉The mineral water in guest rooms has been changed to environmentally friendly bottles.
◉Guest room amenities use recycled products from Kyushu companies that consider the environment, reducing plastic usage.
◉Bath amenities use refillable dispenser bottles.
◉Plastic straws and cutlery have been replaced with biomass straws and wooden cutlery.
◉By offering digital keys, we reduce the use of plastic card keys.
◉We utilize SDGs-certified products.
Reducing Energy Consumption
◉Air conditioning is efficiently set according to occupancy rates.
◉Gas and electricity for the kitchen equipment are efficiently managed according to usage.
◉Energy usage is recorded through Hilton LightStay.
◉Products that improve energy and water usage efficiency, such as motion sensors and LED bulbs, are adopted.
Reusing Natural Energy
◉The packaging for guest room amenities are made from plant-based biomass materials.
◉We promote paperless operations by utilizing the internet and digital devices.
◉Waste oil from the kitchen is collected and reused.
Promoting DE&I and Well-being in the Workplace
◉We encourage our employees to participate in external training to enhance and improve their self-learning.
◉We actively recruit diverse talent with different nationalities, cultures and backgrounds.
◉Non-smokers are provided with health promotion allowances.
Contributing to the Local Community
◉To deliver vaccines to children around the world, we participate in the "Eco-Cap Movement," collecting plastic bottle caps.
◉We collaborate with businesses around our hotel for surrounding cleaning activities and taking part in events.
◉We welcome workplace visits from nearby schools.
◉For elementary and junior high school students, our cook lectures food education through "culinary experience classes”.
Other Sustainable Initiatives
◉Through local production for local consumption, we strive to reduce food mileage and promote and preserve the unique food culture of the region.
◉We offer vegan and vegetarian menus.
